Place a sheet of sandpaper under your fabric and tape the fabric to the sandpaper to keep it from sliding. Carefully pull up the edge of the paper to check on your progress.

If you are using another design for this like the flowers that were used in the wedding; then, you can use a good quality sewing tracing paper to transfer your design. Be very careful not to lean on the paper or put any other pressure on the paper. Some of these don't wash out very well meaning you also need to use a small round tip implement to trace the design so you don't tear the pattern.
If your fabric is thin enough, you can use a light table. Most of these are small but there are some on the market whose surface is roughly the size of a sheet of paper. This method allows you to draw directly on the fabric with washable or air soluble pens that last for about 24 hours.
Now that you have the design, you can also include the names of the couple as well as the date of the ceremony to complete the picture. You can also use the colors used in the wedding to accent the design. At the bottom or on the back you can include your name and the date; either in the same manner as the front or as a label.
